Mississauga Remembers - Civic Centre Remembrance Day Ceremony November 9

In advance of Remembrance Day, the City of Mississauga will host a public ceremony on November 9 to pause and reflect on the sacrifices veterans made during times of conflict for the freedoms we enjoy today.

The ceremony will include a wreath laying component and a moment of silence to honour veterans and those who are still making sacrifices today.

The ceremony will take place outdoors, so please dress accordingly. In the event of severe weather, the ceremony will take place in the Great Hall, located on the ground floor of the Civic Centre.

REMEMBER 11-11 Poppy Exhibit
November 11, 2018 marks the 100th Anniversary of the end of the First World War. To commemorate this event, Parks & Forestry have engaged with the community in a year-long called REMEMBER 11-11 which focused on having the community paint poppies on pieces of wood for Remembrance Day. Veterans Ride MiWay for Free on Remembrance Day
Canadian Forces veterans and their companion can ride MiWay for free on Remembrance Day, Sunday, November 11. Veterans should wear items such as uniforms, medals or carry items that identify them as veterans to transit operators. As a mark of respect to Canadian veterans, all transit operators will stop their buses for two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. on November 11.
