City Seeks Feedback on Draft Long-Range Community Services Plans

Dec 06, 2018

The City is seeking input from residents and stakeholders on long-range Community Services Plans for the Culture, Recreation, Parks & Forestry, Library, and Fire & Emergency Services divisions. The City wants to share what it heard from the public last spring and invite further feedback on long-term priorities.

Last year, the City asked the community to share their thoughts on the future of programs and services for these five key areas and received a lot of input and suggestions. The input was combined with other relevant data, inputs and trends to guide how the City spends its time, resources and funds on community priorities.

The draft plans were released on December 5, so residents and stakeholders can now provide their feedback before January 4, 2019. Feedback can be provided either online or by attending a Public Information Centre. The City will review the feedback and revise the plans before presenting the final plans to Council in January 2019.

BACKGROUND:
The City has created long-range plans for the next five to 10 years on the City’s Culture, Recreation, Parks & Forestry, Library and Fire & Emergency Services divisions. To create these plans, input from the community was combined with feedback from other stakeholders, targeted user groups, data and trends. The plans address concerns about existing programs and services, align with Council priorities and investigate innovative and unique opportunities to enhance City services and programs.
