Recruiting at the City

The City of Mississauga 7 Step Recruiting Process

We are changing how you apply for jobs at the City of Mississauga.

During our transition period no jobs will be posted.  Please continue to check our career site for job opportunities.
NOTE: Once the new job site has launched, you will be required to create a new candidate profile in order to apply for a job.
(this will include a new username, password and unloading of your resume)

Note: Recruitment campaigns such as Firefighters, Transit Operator and Summer Students do not follow this process.

  • You will be able to update your resume and cover letter at any time.

They will decide what applicants best meet the requirements of the job.
Only applications considered for an interview will be contacted.
Applications will be invited for an interview by phone or email.

One or several interview may take place with the Hiring Manager and/or Human Resources, or both. Interviews will be based on job-related criteria, and will be conducted in a manner which is fair and consistent.

When appropriate, applicants may be asked to complete a job related test and/or behavioural assessments that assist the City in assessing applicant's knowledge, skills and job fit. All tests and assessments are pre-approved by the Human Resources Division and will be applied consistently to all applicants.

The City of Mississauga will hire the best available applicant for the job. The Hiring Manger and a Human Resources Recruiter will discuss the interview, behavioural assessment and performance based testing results to reach an agreement on the successful applicant.

An offer of employment will be made and confirmed in writing by the City of Mississauga Human Resources Recruiter. All job offers will be conditional upon providing, at your expense, a Criminal Record Check.
