Event: Ward 9 Bike Ride Tour, July 6, 2012

As an ongoing Mississauga Cycling initiative, casual bike rides will be held throughout the City beginning in Spring 2012, ward by ward.

Designing neighbourhood bike tours for residents is a great way to encourage cyclists of all abilities to ‘get out there’ and learn the local routes in a supportive group.  Mississauga has so many recreational trails and it is important to learn how to ride to them safely. 

The July 6, 2012 Ward 9 Group Ride will start and end at Meadowvale Community Centre beginning at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The ride will be 10.4 km and the planned route is as follows:

- Lake Aquitaine Trail, around Lake Aquitaine (multi-use trail)

- continue towards Battleford Road on Lake Aquitaine Trail (multi-use trail)

- under Battleford Road, Lake Wabukayne Trail (multi-use trail)

- at Plowman's Park merge left

- Lake Wabukayne Trail, around Lake Wabukayne

- under Glen Erin Drive, through Windwood Park

- after Windwood Park, merge left, towards Winston Churchill Boulevard

- bridge, over Winston Churchill Boulevard

- Lake Wabukayne Trail, exits at Millgrove Trail

- Millers Grove Road (local roadway)

- merge right to continue on Millgrove Trail (multi-use trail)

- along bridge over Battleford Road, Millgrove Trail (multi-use trail)

- along bridge over Aquitaine Avenue, Millgrove Trail (multi-use trail)

- Millgrove Trail exists at exit at Plum Tree Crescent (local roadway)

- along Plum Tree Crescent, merge back onto Millgrove Trail (multi-use trail)

- trail exits at Vanderbilt Road, straight on Danton Promonade (local roadway)

- cross Derry Road (along sidewalk, north side)

- cross Winston Churchill Boulevard, merge onto park pathway

- left on Oslo Crescent (local roadway)

- cross Copenhagen Road, connects to Glen Eden park pathway (multi-use trail)

- merge right along Glen Eden park pathway (multi-use trail)

- after Glen Eden Park, where the pathway comes to a "T" merge right towards Derry Road (multi-use trail)

- bridge over Derry Road W (multi-use trail)

- through Maplewood Park, under Aquitaine Avenue (multi-use trail)

- merge right, towards Meadowvale Community Centre
