Description: Small, light brown linen cornered book entitled 'Parental Care', published by The Religious Tract Society. The title is printed on the spine. Marked on the inside front cover board in ink is the following: 'Mary Skynner'.

HISTORY:The book was once owned by Mary Jarvis Skynner (1828-1861). Mary Jarvis was the daughter of Frederick Starr & Susan Jarvis. They lived at Brunswick Farm in Merigold's Point ( now Clarkson). Mary married Henry Skynner at the Anchorage in 1851. The Anchorage originally was owned by the Jarvises who sold it to Commader Skynner, Henry's father. An account of their wedding was written by Mary's father to his daughter-in-law Marion and can be found in Appendix 5 of The Families of Merigold Point, by Dorothy L. Martin, 1984. Mary's brother, Frederick William Jarvis, married Henry Skynner's sister Caroline in 1857.
