Description: A blue and black covered magazine entitled "The Young Ladies Journal, An Illustrated Magazine". The front cover illustrates five views of a woman’s head wearing various bonnets. The images are surrounded by a decorative wood and vine border. The date "November 1874" is printed in the top proper right and left corners. The main feature story "Russet and Rose" is printed in large capital letters along the bottom. In the centre of the top of the cover is printed "Canadian Edition". The back cover has advertisements for a medical booklet, cough elixir, Mexican hair renewer and starch. History: The publisher was E. Harrison of London, England. This publisher operated around 1860 to 1890 and published other magazines and journals including "Penny Dreadfuls", sensational stories published in weekly parts.
