Description: A red, cloth covered book entitled "A Visit to My Birth Place" by author Selina Bunbury. The front cover is very ornate with black design and the title printed in gold and red. The back of the cover is plain and the spine is decorated with black and gold with the title printed on a diagonal. The book has a total of 177 pages. The fly leaf is also marked with the title while the frontispiece has "Harry Hawkins" on one side and an illustration in colour on the other side. The illustration pictures a mother and a son greeting a male visitor. The title page also lists the title and the author as well as other books the author has written. The bottom of the page is marked with publishers information: "London: George Routledge and Sons, The Broadway, Ludgate." The preface of book is signed by "S.B." and is dated "London, 18th November, 1852."

Selina Bunbury (1802-1882) was an author from Ireland who wrote a number of travel books and fiction that show the county districts of her native land. Her book, 'A Visit to My Birthplace', was first published in 1820. Her family moved to Dublin in 1819 and Selina worked as a primary school teacher.
