Description: A stoneware shoulder jug. The lower body of the jug is a light grey colour that appears to be salt glazed while the top of the jug is covered in a "Albany Slip" brown glaze. Mouth of the jug is quite wide.

Salt glazed stoneware was dominant in the 19th century in the form of housewares. Jugs such as this one were used to hold household liquids such as vinegars, ciders, molasses and rum
