Description: This hickory shafted club belonged to Arthur S. Russell who was part of the Lakeview Golf Club. Arthur S. Russell is from England and came to Canada around 1904 where he was an assistant professional to Percy Barrett at the Lambton Golf Club from 1904 to 1907. He was also shown to be the golf professional at Royal Muskoka Hotel golf course for 1906. As the hotel was only open from the end of June to the end of September, this was a summer position and he no doubt returned to Lambton in 1907 before moving on to Lakeview in 1908 where he remained until 1936. The hickory club is a "mashie" club and the loft on this specific club would make it similar to modern day seven iron. AS there is no distinguishing trade marks on the club, it is not clear who made it or where i was made. The stamp with Russell's name and Lakeview would have been done by the manufacturer. The F.C.A stamping would have been put on at Lakeview to identity the owner of the club.
