Open to all eligible residents, Streetscape focuses on front gardens only. Entering your
garden is a wonderful opportunity to share your enthusiasm, expertise and personal gardening
style, and to encourage others to beautify their own little corner of the neighbourhood. You
don't have to be an expert to enter; all experience levels are welcome, from the beginner to
the seasoned gardener.
The contest runs throughout July and gardens are judged by volunteers from local
horticultural societies and the city's horticultural community. There are four classes for
residential entries - traditional large, small, and townhouse gardens, and alternative gardens,
with prizes awarded to the top three gardens in each class.
Your garden may be a dazzling display of colour or a shady green retreat - both have their
own unique magic. Whatever inspires you - a passion for perennials, a fancy for ferns, or
simply a desire to beautify your surroundings, we want to see your creative spark expressed in
your garden. Above all, we want you to show us your love of gardening!
New This Year! Two special prizes will be awarded:
The "Best Display of Colour" Award (sponsored by Springbank Greenhouses)
Will be chosen from all non-winning gardens in all classes. Winners will receive a $100 gift
card and a commemorative plaque.
The "Garden of the Year" Award (sponsored by Toemar Garden Supplies and Firewood)
Will be chosen from the year's first place winning gardens in all classes. Winners will receive
a special prize from our sponsor and a gold commemorative plaque.
Except for the "Garden of the Year" winners*, all winners will be notified by August
15, 2013 and will be invited to receive their awards at the Streetscape Awards Event on Monday,
September 9, 2013.
*The winners of the "Garden of the Year" award will be announced at the Awards
