Dear Culture Organizations,
As the activities of arts and culture organizations in Mississauga increase, the possibility
of similar groups holding major events on the same day also increases. Such an occurrence
divides a common audience base between two or more events, negatively impacting revenues and
giving an erroneous impression about the popularity of some activities.
To reduce the possibility of duplicate events on the same day, the Culture Division recently
launched an innovative project - Mississauga Culture on the Map - that would assist cultural organizations
and events planners to understand some of the events scheduled across the city. In
addition to capturing festivals and events, Mississauga Culture on the Map also displays other cultural resources and
assets in Mississauga such as arts and culture businesses, cultural spaces and facilities,
community cultural organizations, heritage properties, public art, local artists and other
related cultural resources.
If you are a Mississauga-based cultural organization, cultural event group, owner of arts
and culture business, local artist or engage in other cultural activities, please register your
information for free on Mississauga Culture on the Map. For registration-related questions on
the map, please call 905 615 3200 x 4602 or email cultural.mapping@mississauga.ca.
To learn more about the development of Mississauga Culture on the Map project, including the
various community partners and stakeholders that supported project development, please visit
the Mississauga Cultural Resource Mapping project webpage.
