Description: Captain James Beveridge Harris and wife Elizabeth built this Georgian style home. It is thought to be the inspiration for local Canadian author Mazo de la Roche's famed “Whiteoaks of Jalna” novels. Several generations of Harris and Sayers families lived here. In the early 1990s, the Ontario Heritage Foundation restored it to its 1918 splendour, with many original family possessions. Now a City operated community museum, tours and diverse programming have animated the house since 1995.
