Description: Bank of Canada architect Marani Lawson and Morris designed the house and garage, constructed in 1937-8, for Charles Powell Bell. Unfortunately, Bell died shortly after moving in and three years later his widow, Kathleen, married financier James Arthur Gairdner. The couple divorced in 1960 and Gairdner moved to Oakville, taking with him the art studio he had built on the property. In 1961, Kathleen sold the estate to Ontario Hydro.
