Westwood Mall, was the first plaza in Malton and is located on former farmland of the Shaw family on Goreway drive. Westwood opened in 1971 and the expansion of the mall completed in 1977. Ref: "Malton: Farms to Flying" by Kathleen Hicks, pp 17, 218-219.
Mississauga's bus routes were first run by Travelways Limited under the name of "Mississauga Transit Systems" in 1969. It was later brought under the recently formed Mississauga Transit and bus service incorporated the towns of Mississauga, Streetsville and Port Credit. These services began November 1, 1973.
