|Description: Yellowing large black and white photograph of the outside of Malton library inside the Malton Community Centre. The library is closed as there are metallic gates at the entrance of the library. There are a number of trees and plant life around the entrance. |
The new combined Malton Community Centre and Library (Raymond Moriyama, architect) opened next door to the former Malton Centennial branch at 3540 Morningstar Drive in 1977. Prior to the opening of this community centre, residents of Malton used space located at the old Malton Police Village Hall located near Studley and Burlington Streets as well the Victory Hall located at 3091 Victory Crescent. The facility is over 56,000 square feet and features a fitness club, squash courts, gymnasium, theatre, auditorium and a 18,000 square feet branch library. The facility was renovated in 2004.
