Manufacturing of stoneware in Fort Edward, New York, started in 1856 and became an important and major industry. The Ottman Bros firm originated in 1865 under the name of Haxstun, Ottman & Co. In 1872, Haxstun was no longer associated with the firm and Ottman Bros came into being. (information taken from website www.fortedwardnewyork.net/history.htm)
