Hat possibly worn by donor Fanny while living in Toronto and teaching dancing.

Fanny Birdsall (1897-1991) was a dance teacher who along with her sister Helen opened up a dance school in Toronto in 1923; it was located on Yonge St, near the Uptown Theatre. The sisters were involved in producing various dance shows across Toronto including performances at Massey Hall, the Eaton Auditorium and the CNE. Fanny retired in 1969 but both sisters were involved with teaching until 1983.
