Description: A handwritten letter to "My dear old Mam" from "Jack" dated: "Twillingate, October 25." The script is large, open and firm, in black ink. The letter describes the wedding of 'Sue (Temple) and Merl". Evidently as Jack was a bridesmaid she is a woman. The letter describes going with the bride and groom by the steamer "Plover" for two days to help the couple establish themselves at a parsonage and church.

Marion Christiana Magrath Hector (1857 -1922) was the eldest daughter of Christiana (née Sutherland) and William Melchoir Magrath and was the granddaughter of Reverend James Magrath (1769 1851), who was the first rector of St. Peter's Anglican Church in Erindale. Affectionately known as Mammo, Marion and her sisters were raised by their aunt, Anna Cordelia, at Erindale Estate after the death of their mother in 1860. Marian married Thomas Hector and they had four children. Marion died in 1922. She was Mary Harris' older sister.
