Description: A jug with cream base and brown top and handle. The jug has a paper label on the front which says 'HEINZ WHITE PICKLING AND TABLE VINEGAR'.

When the Heinz company was founded in 1869 their first products were horseradish, pickles and various sauces. They manufactured vinegar to preserve the appearance and flavour of their products. They then began to sell their vinegar in individual bottles. They were one of the first companies to sell commercially processed vinegar. Vinegar was sold in stoneware crocks and then by 1880 the "paneled" bottle. Vinegar was also sold to stores in large paraffin lined oak casks. Today Heinz still manufactures more than 7.5 million gallons of vinegar annually. Http://www.heinzvinegar.com/history.aspx
