Description: Modern overshot coverlet by John Brown. It is made of indigo blue wool on natural white cotton. The pattern is called 'The Beauty of the Lake' and has four-petal, cross-shaped flowers with checker-board squares between each petal. History: The coverlet is a reproduction of 'The Beauty of the Lake' pattern, which dates back to at least 1840 and was widely used in Canada. See D.K. Burnham and H.B.
