Cape worn by donor's great-grandmother, Mrs. Matthews, to a ball given in honour of a Royal in the 1900s. Specially made for Mrs. Matthews by The Eaton Co. Limited Toronto, Canada 1897. May have been a ball given for the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York (later King George V and Queen Mary) who toured Canada coast-to-coast as part of an Empire-wide voyage in 1901.
