Description: Bridal Shower Invitation inside an envelope.(1) Envelope, cream colour (8 cm x 8 cm square) addressed to 'Mrs. Anne Sayers, Clarkson, Ont.' Brown 2 cent King George postage stamp. Postal marks on front. "Toronto, June 8, 12:30 pm 1939, Ontario" and "Children's Milk Fund Tag Day - June 10th". Back of envelope has postal mark "Clarkson Jun 8-39, Ont." Return address on the back, handwritten in ink, "Miss Marion Rae, 11 Norwood Rd., Toronto." (2) Invitation: Front: "An invitation to a Bridal Shower". - pink flower bouquet with blue ribbon. Width of front page cut to 5.5 cm to reveal a 2 cm lace design on back page. (Invitation is 7.5 cm x 7.5 cm in size.) Inside: "Please come to a Shower in honor of Barbara Anne Sayers at the home of Marion Rae on Mon. June 19 at 8:00pm o'clock." History: Items donated by Barbara Sayers Larson. Barbara Larson is the daughter of Annie Harris (1882-1986) and Beverly Sayers (1883-1976) and granddaughter of Arther (1843-1932) and Mary (1859-1954) Harris. Barbara was born January 27, 1920 and was the youngest of three children. Barbara and her siblings, Geoffrey Sayers (1907-1997) and Dora Sayers Caro (1915-) donated Benares to the Onatrio Heritage Foundation in 1968 after inheriting it from their aunt, Naomi Harris (1883-1968). Many of the items donated by Barbara orignally belonged to her mother or Aunt Naomi and came from Benares. Barbara lived for many years in the log cabin originally given to her parents by her grandparents at 1723 Birchwood Drive. Barbara has recently moved to Kelowna, British Columbia to live with her daughter although she continues to maintain a close tie with the museum.

From the jewellery box accessioned under 2005.4.125 belonging to Dora Sayers Caro.

Barbara married Melville Gooderham at St. Peterís Anglican Church in Erindale in 1939. They had two children, Geoffrey and Christine.
