The family tree begins with George S. B. Jarvis born 21 April 1797 in Fredericton, N.B. and ends with George Sherwood Jarvis who married Annie McIntyre on 19 Sept. 1865.|
HISTORY:The letter was found with a collection of Jarvis family papers. It was written by George S. B. Jarvis. George Stephen Benjamin Jarvis (b. 1797) was one of six children of Stephen Jarvis. Stephen and his family left New Brunswick in 1809 to move to Upper Canada. They settled in Merigold's Point, now part of Clarkson. As an adult, George was a Judge in Cornwall, Ontario. He married Julia Sherwood in 1821 and had ten children. She passed away in 1842 within two weeks of giving birth to their youngest child. He remarried in 1843, to Anne Mary Mountain. They had three children.
Frederick Starr Jarvis was George's brother who married Susan Merigold, a sister of Elizabeth Bradley of Bradley Museum. See: The Families of Merigold's Point, By Dorothy L. Martin, 1984.
