Welcome to "Moving Forward" the Mississauga City Centre initiative to bring together community and business stakeholders in partnership with corporate stakeholders, government and industry leaders committed to city building.
The goal of "Moving Forward" is to explore the challenges and opportunities for marketing, investment and transportation in developing prosperous, liveable and vibrant city centres.
Mississauga's City Centre is a significant urban centre and transportation hub in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Today 40,000 people live and 20,000 employees work in the greater City Centre area. When fully developed, our City Centre will be home to more than 100,000 people and will be a work destination for more than 60,000 employees. With a balance of employment lands, transit supportive densities and a successful transit system, Mississauga's City Centre is poised for success.
The City of Mississauga has already made a substantial investment in the planning and development of our city centre's infrastructure and community assets. Exciting new commercial and residential developments are reshaping Mississauga's skyline and image as a thriving and exciting urban centre. More is underway as we explore new opportunities for engaging our communities in creating a public realm with attractive pedestrian environments and public open spaces.
Now is the time to build on this momentum in a way that supports our future growth and inspires us to create the model city centre that offers a variety of choices for living, working, convenient transit and access to services a living example of smart growth.
On this site, we share our City of Mississauga successes in the areas of innovative urban and public space development and strategic transit initiatives. Learn more about the next steps the City and our partners take in moving forward our vision of the model city centre.
