Above and parallel to the wheel is a long piece of wood attached to each side of the frame. Above the wood piece is a removable piece of wood with small wheel for bobbins. A small wooden peg keeps bobbin winder in place.

The skein winder is used to make yarn into skein. Skein is a long coil of yarn twisted into a loose knot that is used when weaving. Niddy noddies are also used to wind skein.
