Tree Lighting
Celebration
The City of Mississauga kicks off the holiday season with the Mayor and Members of Council
as it hosts its annual tree lighting ceremony on the Civic Square, sponsored by local
businesses. Five trees ranging in height from 5 -15 meters are erected the last week of
November and remain in place until the middle of January. The middle tree is always the
tallest and most majestic and is referred to as 'The Mayor's tree. All trees are donated by
residents of Mississauga and any remaining trimmings are donated to Museum's of Mississauga for
holiday decorr. New this year is the 'Rotary's Festival of Lights,' which is 50 corporate
sponsored trees, with 30,000 LED lights.
Christmas Window Contest in Streetsville
To engage the community in the holiday season, local businesses are encouraged to decorate
their windows for residents and visitors to evaluate. On the evening of the village's
tree lighting ceremony, prizes are awarded to the top windows chosen by the community.
Streetsville's Annual Tree Lighting
Ceremony
Streetsville invites residents and visitors to join them in the lighting of their
village. It is a free event featuring Santa Claus, free hot chocolate or cider and a drop
off box for donations to the local food bank.
Clarkson
In continuation of Clarkson's 200th anniversary celebration, the village will host its first
tree lighting ceremony, sponsored by local businesses. Everyone is encouraged to attend
this special event with a non-perishable food donation for the local Compass Foodbank.
Entertainment and free hot chocolate are available.

Ceremony
The village hosts its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony with residents, local sponsors and
Santa! There is free entertainment and refreshments. Donations are welcome for a
local breast cancer organization.
