Performers:

June 4 begins the Summer Concert Series with Playford Players Philip Corke and Roland Packer present traditional and original compositions for hammer dulcimer, guitar, bowed psaltery, Irish bouzouki, and mandolin.  www.playfordplayers.com.  

June 11 features Cassandra Sommers, an award-winning Gospel singer, keyboardist and worship leader with deep and wide roots in traditional, urban and contemporary styles. www.cassandrasommers.com.

June 18 features folk duo Ablett and Cooper. The love of acoustic fingerstyle guitar brought Don Ablett and Brent Cooper together some years ago.  With common influences such as Bruce Cockburn, John Fahey, and Stefan Grossman, they have developed a style that has thrilled fans young and old around Southern Ontario. www.ablettandcooper.ca.

June 25 features Rob Tardik with his jazz guitar. A multiple award winner, Rob is well known in the GTA circuit for his mastery with adult contemporary, smooth jazz guitar.  www.robtardik.com.

July 2 features Periwinkle Rose.  Pauline Grondin and Diane Kennedy perform Heritage songs of the British Isles with voice and Bodhran, Mountain Dulcimers, Autoharp, Guitars, Celtic Harp and more. www.paulinegrondin.com.

July 9 Moira Nelson (harp, voice, guitar) and Elena Jubinville (cello, voice, guitar). From instrumentals to a cappella harmonies, original compositions to traditional favourites and even a touch of the blues, performances offer a refreshingly modern take on traditional music - romantic, edgy , magical.www.willowmyst.com

July 23 Players from The Village Music Festival: Mississauga Chamber Music.  Mississauga’s own classical instrumentalists bring a selection of traditional arrangements to enthrall music-lovers with well-known tunes from long ago, and not so long ago.

July 30 Subhadra Vijaykumar, brings South Indian Violin music to Benares!This renowned Royal Conservatory of Music teacher and her students perform in the famous Carnatic style.

August 6 features Carlos Bastida.  Carlos’ music is best described as an innovative blend of Andean, Afro-Cuban and Jazz music.  www.carlosmusic.com.

August 13 welcomes Sandi Marie Porter and Guy Breau, together performing a wonderful selection of originals and tastefully chosen covers.  Interpreting in their unique style artists such as Leonard Cohen, Emmy Lou Harris, Serena Ryder and Mark Knopfler, Sandi and Guy offer a powerful and dynamic collaboration, featuring rich guitar rhythms with strong, soulful vocals and beautifully blended harmonies.

August 20 features Age of Reason led by Michelle Giacometti.  A fun program of 60’s & 70’s classics.  Their familiar repertoire includes lots of hit songs from over the years. This group will bring you back to your teens!

August 27 Roselyn Brown closes the 2010 On the Verandah season. Roselyn is famous in the Mississauga music community as she fuses many traditions including classical, folk, big band, pop, jazz and world music, with marvelous skill on her flute.  www.myspace.com/roselynbrown
