City of Mississauga Receives Top Award for Financial Reporting

Today at Council, for the twelfth consecutive year, the City of Mississauga was presented with the “Canadian Award for Financial Reporting” (CAnFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), for 2008 Financial Reporting.

“Our financial report most effectively demonstrates our financial accountability to our residents and stakeholders,” said Brenda Breault, commissioner of Corporate Services and treasurer. “We are proud to receive this award which recognizes our staff for going beyond the minimum financial reporting requirements to produce a high-quality, comprehensive annual report.”

CAnFR
The CAnFR program encourages Canadian municipal governments to publish high-quality financial reports and provides peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports.

GFOA
The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving 15,000 government finance professionals in the United States and Canada, with offices in Chicago, Illinois and Washington, D.C.
