Nov 30, 2009

Today, City Manager and CAO Janice Baker was named as one of Canada's most powerful women by the Women's Executive Network (WXN) as part of the 2009 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards Summit and Gala to be held in Toronto this evening.

"This recognition is an honour," said City Manager and CAO Janice Baker. "To be included amongst the most successful and influential women in our country is exciting. This program encourages all women to become leaders in their fields and reach for their dreams."

Baker won in the Public Sector Leaders Category. This category recognizes women who hold senior positions in Canada's public sector organizations. Nominees were judged on the following four criteria: Management Role; Vision and Leadership; Corporate Performance; Community Service, and were selected from federal government departments, provincial ministries and universities, municipalities, hospitals and regional health authorities.

This is the third and final WXN win for Baker, who won the designation in 2005 and 2007. WXN limits the maximum number of awards to three. For Janice Baker's biography, please visit www.mississauga.ca/portal/cityhall/citymanager.
