Description: Photo of part of the Port Credit Volunteer Fire Brigade, taken in 1932. The photograph was inserted inside the cover of the Records of the fire Brigade in 1941. The Brigade was formed in 1928 and was the first Brigade and fire engine in the village of Port Credit. Those in the photo have been identified by surname by the Fire Chief, Robert McKee, as follows: From left to right: McNeice, Martin, Harrison, Thompson, Leckie, Leach, Newman, Matter, Long and McKee (the Fire Chief). Newman, Junior, is on top of the fire engine. Chief McKee appended a note in 1951 at the bottom of the photo indicating by an X those members of the fire brigade who had died, or as he put it -- "Gone to meet the Real Fire Chief". These were McNeice, Martin, Harrison, Thompson, Leckie, Newman and Long. He also added this note: "The small boy on the seat is my son Boyd. He became a fireman this year 1951".
