Description: Photo shows a broad spectrum of development at the south end of Lake Aquitaine: a pedestrian walkway not yet paved, a short wooden boardwalk, grass and foliage freshly planted, and large rocks. In the background is the marina. This slide was in a series of 125 slides (FR0073-FR0197) that show the progress and development of the Meadowvale West Lake Project and the surrounding neighbourhoods. They were hand numbered (1-125) and donated in a separate slide carousel. Excavation of Lake Aquitaine began in September 1976 and continued until November 1977 when the new landscape was substantially completed. Water was allowed to flow into the lake in the spring of 1977 and normal water levels were reached on August 16, 1977. The official Grand Opening of Lake Aquitaine took place on June 24, 1978. Description as of March, 2013.
