Description: An important industry in the 1900s in Port Credit was harvesting ice from the Credit River. In the winter, when the stone hookers, dock workers and fishermen had no work, they would cut ice for sale to the various grocery stores which had ice houses. This photo, from the Harold Hare Collection, shows Mr. E. Hibbert, Mr. Bert Burrows and Mr. H.E. Burrows Jr. of Park Street West, Port Credit, cutting ice on the Credit River.
