Description: William Burrows was born in Colchester, England and came to Canada in 1911 to join his son, Charles Burrows. Charles had come to Canada in 1906 with his wife, Ethel, and bought a house in Cooksville, which had been built by James Harris, the son of Daniel Harris. His wife, Ethel Burrows, set up a gift shop in one half of the house. They had two children, Cecil and Leslie. William Burrows came first to Port Credit where he worked in the St. Lawrence Starch Company. In 1914 he bought a two-horse baker's wagon and sold bread and cakes for the Canada Bread Company in Cooksville and area, delivering his goods by horse and wagon for about 25 years. William Burrows lived on Centre Road in Port Credit until his death in 1937 at the age of 88.
