Description: A view of the Mississauga Civic Centre and Mississauga Central Library from Burnhamthorpe Road West. The Civic Centre was designed by Jones & Kirkland Architects and is recognized as a prime Canadian example of post-modern architecture. The building was officially opened by the Duke and Duchess of York on July 18, 1987. The Mississauga Central Library was designed by Shore Tilbe Henschel Irwin Peters. It was officially opened on October 2, 1991. Mississauga's Peace Memorial is on the north side of Burnhamthorpe Road. The memorial waterfall was unveiled in October 1992 and is inscribed with the words "In Memory of Those Who Gave Their Lives for Freedom". Photographed by Bert Hoferichter, MPA.
