Description: The view shows Saddington Park looking east to the Port Credit marina and St. Lawrence Starch Company smokestack. This area was created out of landfill depositied in Lake Ontario south of Lake Street for a park. The following is a historical overview by Paul Dilse for the proposed Port Credit Heritage District Study. "In 1970, Crysler & Lathem, consulting engineers, and Lombard North Planning Limited, landscape architects, prepared a plan for the lakefront park encompassing 14 acres of landfill and 3.6 acres of contiguous land and buildings south of Lake Street, including the waterworks. J. C. Saddington Park, named after a former village reeve, later town mayor, J. C. Saddington, was the result."
