Description: Timothy Street 1777 - 1848

Timothy Street married Abigail Smith in 1800. They had 12 children. Their son John Street was the 1st Reeve of Streetsville.

Timothy Street, a resident of Niagara Township, was given the task of surveying the final acquisition of land now known as Streetsville. In return he was granted 1,000 acres of land in the new township and in 1824, this area became known as Streetsville. Although there were many settlers in the area before Timothy Street and his family settled there in 1825, the village's growth was stimulated by the Street family.

Timothy Street built his family home, a sawmill, a gristmill and a tannery. The Street family house is believed to have been the first brick building in the area. It still stands at 41 Mill Street.

Abigail Street 1783-1859

Abigail Smith was born in Hillsdale, New York State and died at the age of 75 in her home surrounded by her family. The brick home at 27 Mill Street was built in 1850, became the home of widowed Abigail shortly after the passing of Timothy.
