Description: 75 Lakeshore Road East, Plan 300E, pt. Lot 13. This is a two storey commercial structure which has undergone a considerable amount of renovation and alteration. The exterior is stucco over brick and there is a flat roof, with decorative stone work on the second storey. The building was originally the Vogue Theatre. Built in Art Deco style in 1936 by E. L. Farrow & Sons it opened in 1937, and was owned by 20th Century Theatres. The theatre had a single screen and seated 500. Although the theatre was popular and kept pace with Toronto's theatres, it closed in 1979 when the Square One Cinemas opened. In 1980 it became Universal Jewellers. At the time this photo was taken (1989) it was occupied by Remenyi House of Music. The building, later the Crooked Cue Restaurant and Billiards Lounge, is listed on the Heritage Register.
