Description: The Credit River widens and becomes shallow just north of the Queen Elizabeth Way. The river derives its name from the fur trade as early traders gave a credit of goods to the Mississauga Indians in exchange for promised loads of animal pelts. On the west side of the river the Mississaugas had their log cabin village where they raised livestock and farmed. The land is now part of the Mississaugua Golf and Country Club.
