Description: 39 John Street. Plan 300W, pt. Lot 3 & 4. This is a two storey frame structure with an L-shape plan. Since this photo was taken in 1980 the structure has been renovated with a bay window added on the ground floor of the front facade. Building materials consist of aluminum siding (grey), blue accents. There is a gable roof with asphalt shingles. There is a three bay asymmetrical facade to the west. The windows are double hung nine over nine, twelve over twelve and six over six in the new bay window, all of which are probably replacements. There is an added front porch to the structure in the "L" over the front entrance. There is a detached garage on the property. Albert E. Block, carpenter, received the southerly end of Lots 3 and 4 south of Bay Street from his father, Abram, in 1912. The frame house, which does not appear on the 1910 fire insurance plan but does on the 1928, may have been built about 1912. Recent cosmetic alterations make dating difficult. The property is designated under the terms of the Ontario Heritage Act and is located within the Old Port Credit Village Heritage Conservation District.
