Description: 7040 Second Line West. Plan TOR 5 Lots 7, 8, 25, pt. Lots 9 & 26. The Carruthers Residence is a two storey residence with two sets of stone gate posts at each entrance. The structure, built circa 1995 replaces an earlier 19th century structure that was originally built as the first school in the Village and later (circa 1870) converted to a residence. This photo shows an outbuilding on the property known as the weaver's cabin, and was probably built as a garage and used by a weaver as a studio, hence the name. This is an older structure that predates the main house. The property is designated under the terms of the Ontario Heritage Act and is located in the Meadowvale Village Heritage Conservation District. Description as of September 2012.
