Description: One of the principal merchants of Port Credit from the 1850s on. He clerked for Robert Cotton until 1860, when he bought the store which was also a general foods and sundry business. He also bought and sold grain for many years, and maintained a large grain warehouse, approximately where Clarke Real Estate office is today. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 1867.
