Description: Dr. Martin L. Dobkin was a practising family physician and Peel County coroner when he ran for Mayor in 1973 against incumbent Charles 'Chic' Murray and won, becoming the first mayor of the new City of Mississauga. During his term of office Dobkin took on the developers. Rattray Marsh, the Adamson Estate, the Cawthra-Elliott Estate, Erindale Woodlands and the Cooksville Creek area were saved from development. However, Dobkin lost his bid for re-election in 1976 to Ron Searle. The photo shows Mayor Dr. Martin Dobkin with a young constituent.
