Description: In 1971 the firm of Crysler & Lathem, consulting engineers, was retained by the Credit Valley Conservation Authority to prepare a plan for the development of the Mississauga waterfront sector of the Metropolitan Toronto Planning Area. The study included Jack Darling Park which was named after Jack Darling, a former President of the Mississauga Hockey League (formerly the Toronto Township Hockey League). He was an active member of the Clarkson community and was appointed to the Committee of Adjustment in 1968. He is credited with convincing the Ontario Research Foundation to establish in Sheridan Park. He died of a heart attack in 1969. To the very east of Lorne Park Estates is Stoney Bay Park, now called Richard's Memorial Park. This park was renamed in 1973 for Richard Wolniewicz, a 14 year old boy, who died in an accident and whose heart was given to Mayor Robert Speck who underwent a heart transplant.
