Description: A view of the Lakeview Water Treatment Plant, part of the Mississauga Waterfront Study by Crysler & Lathem. The Lakeview Water Treatment Plant was commissioned in 1951, both to service Toronto Township and to pipe water to Malton. As Malton was experiencing water shortages the Township put in a 30" intake pipe into Lake Ontario with a temporary pumping station on Lakeshore Road. Water, which was mainly untreated though chlorinated, was piped to a new reservoir in Malton. As a result a three million gallon filtration plant was built in the following year and this new plant was opened on April 10, 1953.
