"Delicious Memories--Treasured Recipes of Anne Harris Sayers and Naomi Harris"
This fundraising cookbook is now available for sale at Benares Historic House.

Forward from Barbara Sayers Larson:

This cookbook is a stroll back in time through my mother and aunt's recipes. The recipes DO NOT adhere to the rules of modern cookbooks, but merely help to make historic methods more understandable for today's cooks. As with many of your own family's favourite old recipes, you may find that some of these will not work as well as others. Perhaps this is because of changes in technology, and in taste, from the past to the present. Everyone cooks and bakes differently and has differnt results.

As I have stated in the introduction of the book, "many oddities may occur" (including the odd typo!), but I hope you enjoy and have FUN with it!

Bessie and Lucy Harris at Fancy Dress Ball, Toronto, 19th century
Bessie & Lucy Harris as 'Night' and 'Day'
Bessie and Lucy Harris attended a costume ball at St. Lawrence Hall in the late 19th century. Notice that they are dressed as 'Night' and 'Day'. Come see this photo and others when you visit the museum.
