Description: 2170 Stanfield Road, Plan 845 Lots 1 & 11. This is a one-and-a-half storey structure converted to commercial use. This was supposedly the home of the Leaver Brothers Ltd. Factory, growers and producers of mushrooms. During the Second World War women of the Land Army worked here. The Women's' Land Army was formed during World War I to help fill the gap left by so many men enlisting in the war. These women would work on farms, helping to grow food and harvest it. In World War II the Women's Land Army helped to provide food at a time when the German U-boats were destroying merchant ships bringing food to Britain. There were branches of the WLA in Canada. Leaver Mushrooms later moved to Campbellville, and in 1998 was acquired by Money's Mushrooms. The building is listed on the Heritage Register.
