In 1805 he leased the Government Inn, Port Credit, which had been built in 1798 on Governor Simcoe's orders, along with other inns along the shoreline of Lake Ontario, as a stopping place for travellers by boat. Ingersoll was also commissioned to build and maintain a road through the bush. The slide shows a page from his account book for Government Inn.
