Description: Maria Pollard was the wife of Joshua Pollard, Jr. Joshua Pollard, Jr., was the son of Joshua Pollard who came from Saltfleet, Lincoln County, to Toronto Township where he was granted 200 acres. Joshua Pollard, Sr., had fought in the War of 1812 in Captain Chisholm's Flank Company of the York Militia. After the war he was appointed Assessor for Toronto Township and the name Pollard appears frequently in the Quarter Session records as office-bearer. Joshua Pollard, Jr., followed in his father's footsteps and for 34 years was the secretary-treasurer of the community graveground. He married Maria Hill.
