The Clarkson Women's Institute was founded in 1913 as the Clarkson-Lorne Park Women's Institute, with Constance Hamilton as the first president. Meetings were held the third Tuesday of each month alternately between Carman Methodist Church and the Lorne Park Mission Hall. The Institute did a great deal of work during the First World War to aid the soldiers who were shipping out for Europe. The Clarkson Women's Institute was disbanded in 1948.
