The City of Mississauga has in place a debris and anti-littering by-law that has been
enacted in order to maintain the cleanliness and attractiveness of the City.
Under this by-law, it is a violation to dump materials on public or private property, as
well as fail to maintain ones own property in a clean manner. It also sets out provisions for
discharging swimming pool water and the responsibilities of owners of property who have deep
water, precipices or other dangerous places.
Failure to comply with this by-law can result in fines of up to a maximum of $5,000 and a
possible prison term of up to 21 days.
